Sophie and Stephen had their civil ceremony in Johnstown Castle, the magnificent castle our own Lady Fitzgerald came from before marrying Major Lackin and becoming the Lady of Horetown House.  So enjoy the slide show, and thanks so much Kevin for sharing it, you were a pleasure to have in the house, we hardly even noticed you were there, but yet you captured every detail!

Glass jars of all shapes and sizes have been popping up in blogs and websites for quite a while now, for food, sweets, favours and just about anything you can think of. Our magnolias have just started to bloom, I think this one might be magnolia tellata “Rosea” judging by a little googling! It should be really blooming next weekend.
The muscari are also coming up and the most fragrant mini daffodils, with each stem holding 4 or 5 delicate pale blooms are just coming into their own. It’s just amazing how many little gems are hidden in the undergrowth.
We are photographing as much of the new growth as possible trying to build a map of what in our garden before we start renovating it. Lots of weeds and greedy plants to come out but so many precious characters need to be protected- we have a lot of research to do!

At the moment we are busy getting our marquee back into shape after its Winter hibernation, which is no small task! So far the exterior is up, the linings are freshly laundered and draped and we are just laying our natural coir flooring.  Next week its putting up tables and polishing silverware, and then finally we get to do the fun things like bunting and centre pieces but for now its boring things like laying the floors and repainting the bar.
