People Say the Nicest Things

We arrived at Horetown House muddy, rather smelly, tired and, in my case, near to tears. It was the weekend of the first polocrosse tournament of the season (held at Horetown polocrosse club next door), and scattered across the beautiful fields that roll out below Horetown House were tents, horseboxes, pens holding horses and the pitches where, that morning, I had singularly failed to cover myself in glory.

Hi Kate and Bernie,
I just wanted to tell you that we had a meal in HH on Saturday night and it was probably the best meal we’ve eaten there or actually anywhere for a long time. I had Hake and it was to die for! Jack, (who never really eats fish) had the Sea Bass and he’s still telling anyone who’ll listen how amazing it was!! The Crab and duck starters were absolutely Devine! The house looked really fabulous and I just didn’t want to leave.
We had been dinner in the hungry Monk in Greystones on Thursday. They apparently have a great reputation… I had Cod in a cassoulet and it was tasteless, your Chef could show them a thing or two…
Well done! We can’t wait to go up again for dinner.
