Horetown House - Wedding Testimonials We had our wedding here, so we think its wonderful. The bedrooms are fabulous: spacious, beautifully decorated, and suited to their purpose. We had the bridal suite, our parents had double rooms, and the witnesses had a family suite with a separate interconnecting room for their young daughters. The reception rooms and hall were ideal for our purpose. We had tea and sambos for all as they arrived, then adjourned to the formal back room for the actual wedding ceremony, which of course was perfect. Kate, the wedding coordinator, placed fresh flowers from the garden in all the rooms, and scattered rose petals in the room where the ceremony was held - it was a lovely touch and really added to the splendor of the venue. After the ceremony we moved to the stone floored hallway for a champagne reception, while our harpist friend entertained us. Dinner was in the formal dining room, overlooking the garden. This seats up to 30, but we had 22 (thank to Icelandic volcano ash!) so it was very comfortable. There's a larger restaurant downstairs, but it was closed on our day so we had the house to ourselves. Food was perfect (three course meal), wine was great value, and we had our choice of music. We never felt rushed and spent about 2.5-3 hours in the dining room enjoying our meal. We choose Horetown House because of the quality of the food and we were not disappointed! After dinner, we spread ourslves around the two reception rooms, and talked late into the night. We had the option to use the House sound system and so played our favourite CDs through the night. Kate the wedding coordinator, Bernie the owner, and all the staff were on hand if needed and all our guests felt very comfortable and at home at all times. It was still a little chilly in May, so we had the benefit of two roaring fires in the reception rooms, and a bar open until late. The venue can cater for large and small weddings -for us, it was ideal for our group and we had the most wonderful day. Breakfast the morning after is any time you want it. It felt ike home for the three days we stayed. The staff have that rare knack of being almost invisible and unobtrusive most of the time, yet appearing instantly when you need them. For a small, intimate wedding, I can't recommend Horetown House highly enough. Louise & Paul Dublin May 2010 We had an amazing wedding day, both myself and my husband loved every minute and a lot of it was down to the venue, we were also very lucky with the weather. Horetown House is an amazing venue and it was great that we had the entire house exclusively for the weekend, it really felt like home. First of all I would like to start with the food, it was really really good and we have heard nothing but amazing comments from our friends and family. Having nice food was very important to us, and was one of the reasons we chose Horetown House, we were not disappointed! The chef was great, and had no problem with taking our favorite ingredients and creating delicious dishes. Secondly, Kate was great in that she just took over the colour scheme and provided the flowers for the centre pieces and for the rooms throughout the house, one less thing that we had to worry about. Thirdly, the day after the wedding we had a BBQ and again we have to say the food was amazing, everyone is still talking about it, especially the desert!! Horetown accommodated us as much as they could in terms of how we wanted to have the band and dj set up and it created such a relaxed atmosphere for everyone. I would like to say a special thanks to Tom who was great, he stayed up until the early hours of both mornings and kept the bar open and always had a smile on his face, everyone loved him! I did have a bit of an issue with the price of the bedrooms but I can see why they are charged at the rate they are, they are really luxurious and I can honestly say that the sheets are some of the nicest I have ever slept on and the rooms are so luxurious. But I can understand why it would put people off and it very nearly did put us off, but I am really glad it didn’t. Just a small point but it would have been nice to have a bottle of champagne waiting for the bride and her party when we arrived in the room to get ready. Thankfully my sisters were organized and had two bottles ready to pop. Overall I would definitely recommend Horetown House as a wedding venue if food, atmosphere and beautiful surroundings are important to you. Mary & Trevor June 2010 My wife and I attended a close friends wedding in Horetown House as evening guests. We were highly impressed with the venue as it echoed the charm of a bygone age. In horetown house we immediately felt relaxed and welcome as if we were friends dropping by for the evening. The staff are outstanding, while not being intrusive, were always there when required with an attitude of "nothing is a problem". All our friends and fellow guests were in agreement that Horetown House is a teriffic venue for a special occasion. We would recommend it for its charm, atmosphere, service and privacy. The only criticism we would have is that there could be more directional signage from the main roads, however this aside we can say " Well done to all concerned Tony & Helen's wedding August 2010 We both fell in love with Horetown House the day we went to see it, nothing had prepared us for this fine sympathetically restored country house & lovely laid back owners in Tom & Bernie White. When we learned we could get married and have our wedding reception under one roof we booked our date straight away. Not only had we acquired one of the best hidden gems in Ireland for our wedding but we also acquired the best wedding planner any bride to be could have in Kate White, Kate ensured we did not have any stressful moments at all in the run up to the wedding, she chose our menu’s & wine, thought of things before we did and was always an email away. She even organised the hairdressers for my bridesmaids & I & to our surprise had a lovely bottle of champagne waiting there for us that morning to calm the nerves. Our day was perfect & all our guests just couldn’t believe there was such a place as Horetown House, they are still talking about the location, the views, the food. One text read “What a brill day! the location, ceremony & the food was wonderful, not to mention the wine, we enjoyed ourselves so much & are crippled from all the dancing. Thank you so much” That pretty much summed up the opinions of all our guests. We enjoyed our day so much we are trying to think of an excuse to have another party at Horetown House!!! Tom, Bernie & Kate White, again thank you so so much & we wish you all the very best of luck in the future. Kerrie Anne & Warren We had our wedding reception in Horetown House on May 8th 2009.We had a small wedding with 40 adults and 2 children. Of the 40 adults, 14 were over 50 and the rest were late 20’s early 30’s.To get a feel for the place, we spent Valentines weekend there. It was just so lovely, we got there late on Friday night, had a relaxing couple of drinks by the big open fire and then on Saturday evening we had our meal in the cellar restaurant downstairs. The food was fabulous and the staff were so lovely. We had to hire out the whole house, but as there are only 10 rooms, they were all occupied by our family members. The fact that you have the whole house to yourself on the day of the wedding is a great idea, because it is just you and your guests and the staff and it means that their whole attention is given over to you. No one had a bad word to say about our day, in fact they were in awe of the place and the staff. They still rave on about it. A lot of them say they will go back for a meal or to stay some weekend as a treat.Simply fabulous. My only complaint is that the day went too fast !It certainly wont’ be the last time we visit Horetown house. Thank you to Kate, Tom and all the staff that helped us out on that day. Stephen & Nicola
